Why didn't I get my registration email? |

When you applied to join Cancer Buddies Network, we sent you a verification email that contained your initial password. For various reasons, these emails don't always get through to some people. Often it's because the email address is wrong, mis-spelt, your mailbox is full, or your email provider has junked/spammed it. This very often happens with Hotmail, Yahoo and AOL addresses.
- Double check that you have used a LIVE email address, one that you know works.
- Then make sure that you have spelt it correctly down to the last fullstop!
- Note that email addresses VERY RARELY start with www.
- Check your Junk, Spam and Trash folders to make sure it hasn't gone in there.
- Check that your mailbox isn't full and you are able to receive emails.
Failing all of these, we suggest that you contact us with a different email address and we will adjust your membership record and re-send the verification email.

What email address should I use? |

We cannot stress enough that you use a working email address and that the account is not closed or the mailbox full. If you do not get our verification message, you will be unable to complete your SILVER registration and join CBN. On the registration form, we also give you the opportunity to add an alternative (or secondary) email address. If the first address fails, we can still contact you via the second one.
We do not recommend the use of any of the following email addresses, due to the difficulty of getting email delivered to them. These email addresses are very unreliable and often block legitimate emails - Hotmail, AOL, Yahoo.
If you must use one of these addresses, please supply an alternative email address that is not one of the above. If you need a reliable email address or a secondary address, we recommend Google Mail (also known as GMail in some markets). Visit http://mail.google.com for details.

Why don't you reply to my email? |

If you register with an email address that's wrong (or your mailbox is full), we'll try to contact you. Similarly you may be trying to contact us, but are still using the invalid email address. If we don't have a working email address for you, we cannot contact you.

I have my verification email but the details don't work. |

The link to the Silver Verify page and your new password, are in your verification email. You cannot log in as a member until you have verified first. Please ensure that you are typing the username and password correctly. If your verification email is old, the login may no longer work because unverified registrations are automatically deleted after two weeks. If in doubt, contact us for help and advice.

Yes, there are no restrictions so long as they abide by our Terms and Conditions.
Because of differing laws in each country, we ask that people under 16 do not put their personal information on the system but that if they want to join, they do it through a parent or guardian instead.

No, these will be confidential and secure and kept privately on our database. They will not appear anywhere on the website. Other members will only see your username.

Why are there 2 levels of membership? |

To protect you. The first level is the initial registration where you read & sign the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy in order to become a SILVER buddy - this enables you to check out the message boards and see what goes on over there (without actually participating) and allows you to search for a buddy from our database.
Once you have completed your search and found someone you would like to contact, or are ready to be contacted yourself - we take you through level two to become a GOLD buddy. You are required at this point to sign a declaration agreeing to the Rules of the Forum for your own protection and safety.
Once done, this gives you your own private mailbox on the site where you can contact your new buddy (or buddies) totally privately without disclosing your email address. It also allows you to participate in the Forum.

Why can't I use the Forum? |

You need to become a GOLD buddy to participate in the Forum. This is for the protection of all those who use it. Please see levels of buddy above. If you are a GOLD member already, then you've probably forgotten to logon to the forum.
IMPORTANT: On your first visit to the Forum you will be asked to log in to this part of the website - when you do this, check the box 'Log me in automatically each visit' and you won't need to log in again. You can now access your Private Messaging System and send messages on the Forum.
If you find that the Forum isn't working for you, check the blue writing underneath the coloured buttons at the top of the page, look way over to the right and see whether it says 'log in' or 'log out (your name)'. If it says, 'log in' then do this again and check the box as above.

How do I use the Members' Forum? |

You can visit and read the Members' Forum as a SILVER Buddy. If you want to contribute (and send/receive messages) you will need to upgrade to GOLD. If you're new to forums, just watch for a while and see how others use it. When you're ready to make your first posting, you can check the Forum FAQ if you have any queries. The link is at the top of every forum page. You should also visit the thread called 'Hints and Tips on Using the Forum', or you can ask others for advice on how to do what you want.

Is it free to join? |

For the moment, the second registration process (to become a Gold Buddy) is completely free, and we have every intention of keeping it this way. It is possible though that there may come a time in the future when we will have to introduce a minimal charge purely to help us with the running costs of this site. In the event that this becomes necessary, you will of course be given plenty of notice.
We do assure you that it is our ultimate goal to keep the site free for all to use.
